How will I incorporate technology into my classroom? In terms of how I plan to utilize and integrate technology into my classroom, I plan on using it as a supplemental tool. I believe that technology is extremely relevant and effective for teaching, if used in moderation. For my time spent in the public education system, I'll use it to take attendance everyday through ClassDojo, provide parents with various ways to communicate with me and stay up to date on what is happening in our classroom, like my website for instance, and to aid in my instruction of lessons. Although I do not plan on relying on technology heavily, I do see the benefit in allowing students to be aware of online activities and games they can choose to play or complete that will not only reinforce concepts learned in class but will also strengthen their individual understanding of the material. Some examples of these are education.com, BrainPOP Jr., and GoNoodle. I'll also utilize various websites outside of class in order to prepare lessons and plan the content curriculum using sites like Scholastics Teachers, Curriki, and Kahn Academy. However, when I hopefully become Montessori-trained and start teaching in a Montessori school, they have a different take on technology and how it is integrated into the classroom.

My name is Megan Green and I am currently at freshman at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. I plan on majoring in Elementary Education with minors in Education Policy and Sociology. I grew up in Fort Wayne, IN and attended Carroll High School in the NACS district there the last 4 years of my secondary education. First through eighth grade, however, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend Oak Farm Montessori School in Avilla. Oak Farm provided me with not only a nurturing environment to become an independent young adult but also with the teachers and experiences to cultivate within me the love for learning. I hope to continue my education after I graduate from IU by becoming Montessori-trained so that I can help carry on and reach new students through the education philosophy that has had such a hand in shaping who I am today.
What are my pedagogical beliefs as a teacher?Because I have been a student the majority of my life, I have gotten to witness the learning of others in countless different settings. Resulting from my observations of various situations, the comments of my peers, and my background of Montessori education, one of my main pedagogical beliefs is that no two students learn alike and therefore should not be expected to perform similarly given the same conditions. How can we, teachers, expect all our students to be successful in the classroom if the way we are teaching is tailored to only a small percentage of learning styles out there? I believe that we should do as much as we are capable of, as teachers in the classroom, to provide each student with the environment and methods of instruction that they need so that they can utilize their full potential as students.
