Knowing how to behave on the internet is an extremely relevant and important issue. For my W200 class I created an Emaze presention over the importance of internet safety. I directed this presentation at the parents of my "students" because they are responsible, as well as I, for helping their young students learn how to navigate and behave in this increasingly digitalized world. The points included in my presentation were what internet safety was, some of the common dangers associated with the internet, and steps they as parents can take in order to ensure their child's safety when using the internet. This tool satisfies 4a and 4c.
While my first example for this standard targeted parents, this example is for my classroom. I created a technology rules infographic poster to hang in my hypothetical classroom. On this infographic, I outlined the rules and expectations of using technology in my classroom. When integrating technology into the classroom of young children, it is important to be very clear regarding how you expect them behave around and treat the technology as well as the care and maintenance included with using these devices. This is helping shape them into responsible digital citizens by teaching them to respect the technology and treat it with care. This tool satisfies 4a and 4c.
On going project in my W200 class was the evolving creation of a symbaloo webmix. Symbaloo allows the creator to compile links to various websites in one place. I used this to create a specific webmix for my hypothetical classroom. I included websites ranging from BrainPOP Jr. and PBS to Kahoot and OER Commons. It's not only an effective way for me to manage my classroom and effectively move from one resource to another, it also helps me stay find and connect with online teacher communities and other great resources to use in the classroom. Using symbaloo, I can share my resources with colleagues and they share theirs with me. It is a great mixing pot of ideas, classroom tools, and relevant websites for education. This tool satisfies 4c and 4d.
